The contemporary reinterpretation of the factory will provide an exceptional and vibrant urban space for the residents of Amiens to enjoy.
To create an active site throughout the day, week, and weekend, our project offers mixed programming that includes a co-living type residence and commercial premises occupying the street and waterfront levels. This mixed programming is in line with the very active logic of the St Leu district, providing a vibrant atmosphere.
The project involves maintaining and renovating the Halle des Machines while raising the three other halls and renovating the facades on the Boulevard du Cange side.
The volumes will remain in line with the compositional logic of the fabric of the Saint Leu district with a limited height and a strict alignment on the Boulevard side.
The project's major activities lie in the re-appropriation of the site and the canal's banks by the residents of Amiens.
To achieve this, we propose opening a public passageway linking the Boulevard du Cange and the counter-tow path through the volume of the Halle des Machines. This new space will be extended at the level of the canal by the creation of a widened quay, allowing the café located on the counter towpath to have an exceptional terrace.
