The facade of the building is designed with a serene and stable aesthetic, featuring a consistent double-height pattern. It presents an elegant yet tranquil presence on the quay.
Despite being primarily closed off to achieve sustainability goals, the facade maintains an open and inviting appearance.
Throughout the master plan, the entrances to the buildings are prominently marked by large cuts in the facade, adorned with historic maps of the local area.
These anodized aluminum features help to establish distinct identities for each building. Additionally, the use of large steel columns at the entrances is a nod to the historical maritime context of the North Wall Quay.
We employed brickwork on the facade to achieve our goal of linking the past and present of the docklands.
The bricks evoke memories of a time when many buildings were constructed using this traditional material. The choice of dark bricks imbues the building with a sense of timelessness as if it has always been a part of the landscape while simultaneously being a contemporary architectural structure.
